What would you like to know?
How do we book a Ballroom or Latin Dance lessons?
Please call us on 0787 668 7659 when we can discuss with you what are your preferred times for Ballroom or Latin Dance lessons.
How much do the lessons cost?
We offer different packages of lessons to suit your needs. From single lessons to a series of lessons. The prices vary slightly depending on how many lessons you take. It is cheaper to buy a small group of lessons than take a single lesson, but you are most welcome to buy a single lesson to see if you like it. If at the end of that lesson you decide to continue with more lessons, then we charge all the lessons at the lower rate applicable to the number of lessons you choose. We would be very happy to explain the different rates if you either call us on 0787 668 7659 or E-mail: dancing@firstdancecompany.com
Where and when are the Ballroom or Latin Dance lessons held?
We teach in St James' Hall, at the junction of Packington Street and Prebend Street Islington, North London, N1 8PF. We teach there in the evenings. Lesson times are 6.30pm, 7.20pm, 8.10pm and 9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are also happy to teach you in your home, depending on your location and whether you have enough space. We would not like you to feel it's like learning to swim in the bath!
What do we have to wear for our Ballroom or Latin Dance lessons?
Please wear any clothes that you like that do not restrict movement. Also wear some comfortable shoes, preferably not trainers as they can stick when you try to move across the floor.
I have never danced before and am concerned about taking Dance Lessons. Does this matter?
Do not worry about not having had lessons before. We specialise in teaching absolute beginners. Our aim is to enable you to feel confident and comfortable on the dance floor. Many of the quotes from our students on this website are from those who had never danced before. You will be surprised how quickly you learn.
Walk in….dance out!
What type of Ballroom or Latin will I learn?
We will discuss with you what you would like to do. The advantage of a private lesson is that we can arrange the lesson to suit your wishes. We can concentrate on a particular dance or cover a number of dances. The speed at which you progress will depend only on you and not on the rest of a group.
Your lesson: your choice.
Do I have to come with a partner?
You are very welcome to come either with a partner or by yourself. If you come with a partner it does not matter if one of you has danced before and one of you has not. We are used to teaching couples with different experiences of dancing.
Can I buy a gift of some dance lessons?
Certainly. We have some very presentable vouchers which you can buy for any number of lessons. There is a space on them for you to sign to make it personal. Just call us on 0787 668 7659 and we can arrange to send the voucher to you.
